Hi Ed002, I know you don't like talking about finances too much but could you explain the situation with Barcelona a little bit?

From the outside they are meant to be in huge trouble but are still throwing money around and it just doesn't seem to add up.

I think I read they raised some cash through selling image rights but I would imagine that would only be a short term fix.

Are they expecting a huge influx of sales or are they potentially heading towards bigger problems?

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona will sell their 49% share in a broadcast business to raise €100M, potentially agree to sell 10% of their future AV rights to CVC for €300M and have major sponsorship with Spotify (which would have gone to Arsenal if they had been more reasonable about a sale). This will re-balance the situation which had to be agreed by the end of June 2022. But they are also carrying huge debt.They will look to focus on new contracts for the younger players, adding four Free Agents and selling fringe players as they regroup this summer - and a couple of part exchanges are in discussion. Significant additions will therefore be limited to one or two players. No huge signings like Haaland will be made this summer and need departures to free up space in the squad and wages before they can register more players. Target is to reduce wage bill by 25% to €400M which will make them sustainable.}
